Tropea, Calabria

Not far from the end of Italy's boot, on the Capo Vaticano peninsula, you will find the charming town of Tropea. Adorned with little alleys that nudge up against cliff-sides, and breath taking views of the waters off the coast, this gem puts you in the heart of Calabria, and not far from some of the best beaches in Italy.

Bobbio, Emilia Romagna

Along the Trebbia river in the province of Piacenza in Emilia Romagna sits Bobbio, a quintessential Northern Italian village surrounded by rolling hills and appointed with architecture that dates back as early as 614. Take a stroll along the famous Ponte Gobbo bridge, and have a leisurely meal at one of the towns many little restaurants.

Palmanova, Friuli Venezia Giulia

Known for its distinctive star shape, whose design dates back to the Venetian rulers of the 1500s, Palmanova is an elegant, and quite unique Renaissance walled town that is worth a visit if you are in the areas of Undine or Trieste.

Bosa Sardinia

The West Coast of Sardinia is an expanse of winding roads, beautiful villages and towns, and dramatic cliff-sides that gives the Amalfi Coast a run for its money. One of the areas prettiest towns is Bosa, with its multi colored buildings and proximity to the water and some of Sardinias most amazing beaches.

Cortina d'Ampezzo, Veneto

Cortina is the town you want to be in if you find yourself in the Dolomites. Its quaintness and mountain charm are unmatched, and the breathtaking back drop only adds to its magic. The best part is that you can enjoy it both in the winter and the summer!

Civita di Bagnoregio, Lazio

When you imagine a classical Italian walled city, this may be what you have in mind. Though largely uninhabited by permanent residents after centuries of erosion due to its precarious perched location in a canyon, Civita still thrives as a center for amazing food and views, and is the perfect place for a day trip in the Lazio region.
